Until now, SFD has provided loans to Vietnam to finance 11 projects amounted to Arab Riyal 539.250 million (equivalent to approximately USD 143.9 million). SFD fund has been utilized for financing small-sized infrastructure projects such as rural transport system, vocational schools, and hospitals in poor areas.

Two projects in Dong Thap and Ha Tinh (following the Project of Restoration of Flooded areas in Nghe An Province) are those in the sector of climate change to be financed by SDF fund in Vietnam. In the context that Vietnam has been suffering from negative effect of climate change, the implementation of these Projects would help to enhance the capacity of climate change response of Ha Tinh and Dong Thap provinces in particular and the middle and South – West  regions in general.

At the courtesy meeting of the Vice President cum General Director of SDF fund prior to the signing ceremony, the Vice Minister of Finance, Mr. Tran Xuan Ha requested the SDF fund to cooperate with the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam to improve the effectiveness of loan utilization, enhance the information exchange and provide higher concessional level loans to Vietnam.

On behalf of the Government of Vietnam, Mr. Tran Xuan Ha addressed his great thanks to the Government, people of Arab Saudi in general and SDF fund in particular for the precious and effective supports for Vietnam during last time and hoped for better cooperation in the future. He also committed the Ministry of Finance would coordinate with relevant ministries, agencies and Provincial People Committee of Dong Thap and Ha Tinh to exercise the Loan Agreements in good manner, facilitating the implementation of the Projects in due course and at the best results.
